The established planners in this space are web products: your children's names, grades, schedules, photos, and work samples live in someone else's database, behind a subscription. Willowlog is built the other way around. It is one honest loop on your own phone — plan this week → do today → log proof → export records — that treats a slipped plan as normal family life, not a failure to fix with more admin.

Plan the week without re-typing it
Build weekly lessons with students, subjects, notes, and estimated minutes. Weekday lessons can repeat automatically, and "copy last week" carries a working rhythm forward — so the plan takes minutes, not a Sunday evening.

A Today view that survives real life
Today shows every student's tasks in one checklist, grouped by student. Check things off, skip what didn't happen, and move unfinished work when the day changes — including marking a day off, sick day, or field trip without breaking the record.

Log unplanned learning in seconds
Half of homeschooling never appears on a plan. The quick log captures a nature walk, read-aloud, baking project, or museum trip in seconds: pick the students, subjects, and minutes, add a note, and attach photos or documents as portfolio evidence — stored locally.

What you check off and log rolls up automatically into attendance days and learning minutes by subject and student, measured against goals you configure yourself. A simple gradebook and a reading log round out the record keeper.

Create a ZIP backup of everything and restore it on a fresh install — no account required. The app is fully translated into 36 languages including right-to-left Arabic and Hebrew, supports light and dark themes, and even the words "student", "subject", "school year", and "lesson" are customizable.

Student records are sensitive. Willowlog treats them that way.
Names, grades, schedules, photos of your kids' work — that is exactly the data a family app should not be uploading. Willowlog is local-first as verifiable behavior, not a marketing slogan:
- No account. Nothing to sign up for, no child logins.
- No cloud sync. Records live in a local database and local files on your device.
- No analytics SDKs, no ads, no tracking, no data brokers.
- No Android permissions. The audited build requests none — no camera, microphone, or location.
- Kept out of cloud backups. Device-to-cloud auto-backup is deliberately disabled for the app's data.
- Sharing only by your hand. Records leave the device only when you export, back up, or share them.

What Willowlog refuses to do
A family's learning journal should not behave like enterprise software. These are deliberate omissions, not missing features.
- No student accounts or child logins
- No cloud sync of your children's records

Questions, answered honestly
When will Willowlog be available?
Willowlog is an Android app in final preparation for Google Play — it is not downloadable yet and there is no confirmed release date. The developer's Google Play page will show the listing the moment it goes live.
Is Willowlog free?
Willowlog will be a free download, and the build being prepared has no paywall — planning, logging, records, reports, backup, and restore are all included. Optional paid upgrades may be added in a later version; if that happens, pricing will appear on the Google Play listing, and homeschool records stay on your device either way.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
No account, ever — there is nothing to sign up for and no child logins. Willowlog works offline: lesson plans, logs, attendance, grades, and attachments live in a local database on your device. The audited Android build requests no permissions and contains no analytics, ads, or tracking SDKs.
Can I use Willowlog with more than one child?
Yes. Willowlog supports multiple students from the start. The Today view groups tasks by student, weekly lessons can be assigned to one or several students, and a quick log — say, a field trip — can be recorded for several students at once.
Will Willowlog keep me compliant with my state or province?
No app can honestly promise that. Homeschool requirements vary widely by location, so Willowlog makes no legal claims and ships no state presets. Instead, you set your own attendance and hours goals, optionally add your own state or province label to reports, and use the exported records as supporting documentation. Always check your local requirements yourself.
How do I get my records out — and is there a backup?
You can export PDF reports with a parent signature line, share CSV files, and create a full ZIP backup that restores on a fresh install. Homeschool records are also deliberately excluded from device cloud backups, so nothing leaves the phone unless you export or share it yourself. Exports and backups are not encrypted — store and share them carefully.
What languages does Willowlog support?
Willowlog ships fully translated into 36 languages, including right-to-left Arabic and Hebrew, and you can switch language instantly in Settings. Labels like "student", "subject", "school year", and "lesson" are also customizable, so the app matches how your family talks about learning.
